The twenty-fifth entry in our NYC Brewery Series comes from our friends at Five Boroughs Brewing Co. The Five Boroughs Brewing Co. story starts in 2011 in co-founder Blake Tomnitz’s college dorm room. It was there that he - much to university officials’ dismay - started homebrewing, an early rendezvous with beer that permanently piqued his interest in the liquid. Years later, Blake met Kevin O’Donnell, his coworker and a fellow beer enthusiast, and the pair started attending craft beer events together throughout New York City. They soon discovered that the five boroughs’ burgeoning beer scene was missing a fundamental piece: a brewery making beers for all New Yorkers. The duo made it their mission to bring this holistic beer concept to life by building New York City’s quintessential brewery. In 2017, Blake & Kevin achieved their goal, opening Five Boroughs Brewing Co. in Brooklyn’s dynamic and diverse Sunset Park neighborhood. Located in a 15,000 square-foot facility, Five Boroughs makes all of its beer on-site, brewing an array of styles that are obsessively high-quality and always accessible.
They've offered up Gridlock Hazy IPA which brings a tropical traffic jam of flavor, the byproduct of heavy whirlpool additions of Amarillo and Citra. Guaranteed bumper-to-bumper deliciousness.
Notes: This recipe includes salt additions (Calcium Chloride & Calcium Sulfate) that are optional, but are not included.
