Bitter & Esters Third Annual Brewery Bike TourIt’s time for Bitter & Esters 3rd Annual Spring Brewery Bike Tour! We love to host these annual rides so people can hang out with their fellow beer enthusiasts and try the amazing beers being poured in NYC. It’s always a great time and an opportunity to learn more about local breweries.

We base our brewery tours around a collaborative brew with a local brewery. This year we teamed up with the Brewminaries homebrew club and Folksbier Brewery in Carroll Gardens. We like to keep it fresh and interesting, so this year’s recipe evolved from a game of of Exquisite Corpse.

Each brewer was given a sheet where they would write down one ingredient (malt, hops, or yeast) and pass the sheet to the next brewer who would write down a different ingredient without seeing what the last brewer wrote. We ended up with German malts and blueberries composing the grain bill, English hops for bittering, and Saison yeast for fermentation. This hybrid was summarily dubbed Famous Floating Blueberry and clocks in at 5% ABV / 45 IBU.

We had a great time brewing with Travis and Folksbier and now it’s time to taste the beer! We’ll be starting at Bitter & Esters at 11:30am with our first stop scheduled at 12pm. We’ll head to the other breweries when everyone is ready to go! Here’s the itinerary:

Sunday, May 21st

  • Meet at Bitter & Esters (700 Washington Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11238) @ 11:30 AM
  • Head to Folksbier (101 Luquer St, Brooklyn, NY 11231) @ 12:00 PM
  • Head to Other Half (195 Centre St, Brooklyn, NY 11231)
  • Back to Folksbier (101 Luquer St, Brooklyn, NY 11231)
  • Head to Strong Rope Brewery (574 President St, Brooklyn, NY 11215)
  • Head to Threes Brewing (333 Douglass St, Brooklyn, NY 11217)

Here’s a handy map in case you need it. There’s no charge for the ride but you are responsible for your beers. The bike ride will be rain or shine (hopefully shine).

Don’t worry if you don’t have a bike, you can meet us at Folksbier! We’d love to see everyone come out and enjoy the fruits of our communal labor!
