Bitter & Esters will be hosting Fermentation on Wheels next Saturday November 15th, for a day of free fermented food and beverages workshops! Tara Whitsitt and the Fermentation on Wheels bus will be parked in front of Bitter & Esters from 11am to 4pm.
For the uninitiated, Fermentation on Wheels is a celebration of fermentation and offers free educational events nationwide as a way to bridge communities and restore a genuine fascination and interest in local, traditionally preserved foods.
There will be a whole bunch of cool workshops throughout the day:
10am - Living Foods Exploration (ages 5-10)
11am - Bacteria, Food, & the Human Biome (ages 10-18)
12pm to 3pm - Starter Culture Swap and other demos.
Bitter & Esters will have a free workshop on different fermented beverages, every hour on the hour from 10am to 1PM
10am - Beer making
11am - Kombucha making (with Eric from Kombucha Brooklyn!)
12pm - Cider Making
1pm - Mead making
There will also be a social hour celebrating the arrival of Fermentation on Wheels from 5 to 7pm at The Way Station on November 15th. The Live Cultures, a band admired by fermentation enthusiasts, will play a set during the event and specialty cocktails using kombucha, fermented hot sauces, and sauerkraut brine will also be featured.
